About me...
I have always loved art since I can first remember. I use my experiences and observations of how human beings relate with their environment to create my original artwork. Drawing and painting the human figure is my favorite subject. I also paint endangered flora and fauna. I believe that as an artist it is my responsibility to use the language of art as a warning call. I like to work in different techniques: watercolor, oil, mixed medium and acrylic. Most of my work is self-inspired, but I also accept commissions.
I received my Fine Arts certification and my Art History B.A. in 1993 from National University of Colombia. I then went to Spain and I earned my Art History Masters in 2009 at the Basque Country University. I have a double certification in Art K-12 and Education Pk-3 to teach in Florida schools. In 2007 I was honored to receive the 'Academic Excellence Award in Painting' from Palm Beach State College.
I am very enthusiastic and commited to working as an art teacher. I strive to help my students succeed academically and as individuals, as well. I develop my Art Integration lessons to teach my students something new everyday in a fun way.
In 2010 I was invited to Gernika, Spain, by IDEASUR, a non-profit organization to develop a workshop with students, teachers and the community to celebrate Cultural Diversity, I hope to return soon!
I keep learning and growing as an artist every day to keep my creative process going. This place will be change, too!
